The odds were not optimal this year, with the ongoing Corona pandemic and in the early Sunday morning, the rain was pouring down and heavy wind gusts made it hard to even take a peek at the antennas outdoors.
The transmitter hall was empty except from five members of the Alexander Association, appointed to perform the transmissions, any visitors was directed towards the visitor centre.
Two transmissions was done, at 11:00 (09:00 UTC) and at 14:00 (12:00 UTC). On the first transmission the rainy weather was making it hard at first to reach good output to the antenna, but after a few minutes with the VVV VVV VVV de SAQ loop, the system started to dry up and the amps increased.
I the afternoon the skies cleared and we even got a little bit of sunshine, making the second transmission easier and we managed to get around 60A into the antenna, which is optimal.
This was the first time for our new telegraphist, Kai Sundberg, with a long radio carrer and with great experience. To honor the day, he was dressed in his radio uniform dating back to the sixties. Impressive!
The final Listener Summary Report shows that we have recived 627 unique listeners reports from all over the world – a new record!
All reports can also be viewed on our listener map, published on our website alexander.n.se.
To enhance the response time to our listeners and to reduce cost and workload, we will reply to our listeners with an E-QSL (electronic QSL card). Every listener who has sent us a report will receive an E-mail with an attached QSL card in PDF format.
Last, but not least, we would like to send a BIG THANK YOU! to all listeners, and viewers for your efforts to recieve and watch the transmissions from the historical Alexanderson alternator at the World Heritage Grimeton Radio Station - we do this for you![www.alexander.n.se ]
